Drawing inspiration from
Nathan Smith, a software
engineer, web developer and designer,
this project was prompted by his 960 Grid System.
Smith's grid system allows for quick and easy implementation of even the most complex grid-based layouts. Utilizing this system with CSS based design, saves precious time and tedious math while still producing aesthetically pleasing, organized, and carefully structured layouts.
Smith chose a width of 960px for his grid system because the number allowed for clean division with whole numbers when calculating columns and margins, while still accommodating most screen sizes at the time. The most popular variations of this system include a 12 and 16-column grid.
